Health Assisting Engineering
part-time
Physiotherapy concerns human movement. It focuses on the ability to move, all the systems that affect these abilities and the interaction between sensory and motor controls. Physiotherapy comprises an important part of health care in virtually every medical field and is based on the medical sciences. Physiotherapy is used in health promotion and prevention, therapy and rehabilitation as well as in palliation and hospice facilities. The degree program combines theoretical fundamentals of physiotherapy and medicine with practical therapeutic subjects.
Please note that you can only apply for one type of organizational form (full-time or extended part-time) per academic year.

Once you have been offered a study place, additional proof of suitability is required:
Applicants may require legalization of documents from countries other than Austria in order for them to have the evidential value of domestic public documents. Information on the required legalizations can be found here in PDF format.
For documents that are neither in German nor English, a translation by a sworn and court-certified interpreter is required. Your original documents should have all the necessary legalization stamps before translation so that the stamps are also translated. The translation must be firmly attached to the original document or a legalized copy.
As part of your online application, upload scans of your original documents including all required legalization stamps. For documents not issued in German or English, scans of the corresponding translations must also be uploaded. The head of the study program decides on the equivalence of international (higher) education qualifications. Therefore, your documents can only be checked as part of the ongoing application process.
Your path to studying at Hochschule Campus Wien (HCW) begins with your registration on our application platform. In your online account, you can start your application directly or activate a reminder if the application phase has not yet started.
Your application is valid once you have completely uploaded the required documents. If you do not have all the documents at the time of your online application, please submit them to the secretary's office by email as soon as you receive them. Submitting your complete online application is considered as permission to take the written test.
After completing your online application, you will receive an email confirmation with information on the next steps.
Once you have been accepted, you must also provide the following proof of suitability:
The admission process includes a written online test, a practical aptitude test, and an interview.
Aim
The aim of the two stage admission process is to ensure that places are offered to those completing the multi-level admission procedure with the best results. The tests are designed to assess the skill set needed for desired profession.
Procedure
The written online test includes a series of test requirements. In addition to testing basic intellectual requirements (e.g., number series, word analogies, matrices, spatial awareness, language comprehension, etc.), general knowledge in the fields of natural sciences and humanities is also tested.
Candidates who have achieved the required level then take part in a practical aptitude test and an interview.
The following criteria are assessed in the practical aptitude test:
The practical aptitude test takes place on the selected date (duration: approx. 1 hour) exclusively on site at the University Campus Vienna. Various stations must be completed.
During the interview, personal aptitude is assessed on the basis of key questions relating to the profession and studies. These include, among other things, understanding of the profession and professional motivation, as well as personal learning behavior and willingness to perform. In addition, social and communication skills such as linguistic expression and self-presentation, analytical skills, and the ability to reflect in a conversation situation are also assessed. The interview takes place online with two other candidates. The appointment lasts approximately one hour and is chosen by the candidates in advance.
Each part of the test is scored with points.
Criteria
The criteria that lead to admission are exclusively performance-based. Geographical assignments or even a repeated application of the candidates have no influence on the admission. The admission requirements must be fulfilled. All required documents must be submitted on time. The final ranking of the candidates is based on the following weighting:
The application committee, which consists of the head of the degree program and three to five persons from the team of lecturers, allocates the study places on the basis of the ranking series. The student representatives are invited to participate. The entire process as well as all test results and evaluations of the admission procedure are documented in a transparent and comprehensible manner. Candidates are invited to check their admission status via an online tool. Separate written information is not provided.
The entrance exam will be held online from March 26th to April 10th, 2026.
Applicants may choose their exam date by scheduling an appointment online.

Hochschule Campus Wien is now the largest university of applied sciences for health in Austria. After the legal framework was created in 2006 to introduce the MTD academies and the midwife academy into the higher education sector, Hochschule Campus Wien launched the first bachelor's degree programs in 2007. Shortly afterwards the first master's degree programs where launched in the Department of Health. Today, Hochschule Campus Vienna now has extensive expertise and a large network at its disposal. An important partner in the areas of education, research and development is the Vienna Healthcare Group. We also work closely with the Professional Association of Physio Austria. Various special events are regularly held at our attractive main campus. Students benefit from the modern infrastructure of our university. This includes numerous function rooms. A highlight is the movement laboratory where force plates and cameras enable the three-dimensional analysis of movements in order to gain a better understanding of movement disorders. Measurements are recorded using wireless electrodes attached to the body. Furthermore, you will also have the opportunity to join an interdisciplinary, professional community. There is great potential in research projects at the intersection of health, technology and social services. Practical relevance is also guaranteed at our Campus Lecture evenings, which are open to all and feature contributions from prominent experts.
The Hochschule Campus Wien is the first Austrian university to offer a part-time Bachelor's degree program in physiotherapy, which will start in 2023 in the summer semester. The lectures are held in blocks in the evening or on weekends, so that studying and working can be combined much better. The part-time program includes the same theoretical and practical lectures as well as practical learning phases as the six-semester full-time program. This means that you will acquire the professional qualification of a physiotherapist. In the fourth year of study, you will mainly complete the clinical-practical training. A current employment relationship is not a prerequisite for application or admission.
The degree course will provide you with the necessary knowledge to help people in all age groups to lead a self-determined life with a high level of functional capacity and activity.
Times
1st to 6th semester:
Maximum of two block weeks per semester and maximum of ten weekends per semester.
Teaching times during block weeks:
Mon - Sat, 8.00am - 9.00pm
Teaching times on weekends:
Thu, 1.45pm - 9.00pm
Fri, 8.00am - 9.00pm
Sat, 8.00am - 9.00pm
7th and 8th semesters:
The fourth year of study (7th and 8th semesters) is largely dedicated to the completion of clinical-practical training. A weekly working time of at least 30 hours per week is required.
Number of teaching weeks
18 per semester
In order to enable all students to gain the necessary practical experience and thus to complete their studies within the regular period of study, there may be practical learning phases during the summer months if required. Four vacation weeks in July or August are planned in any case.
Electives
Electives can only take place when enough students register for them. An admission procedure may take place if the number of interested students exceed the course limit.

Physiotherapy measures and techniques include all types of movement therapy, perception training, manual therapy, respiratory therapy, therapeutic massage, reflexology therapies, lymphological physiotherapy, electro-, thermo-, photo-, hydro-and balneotherapy measures, performance and electro-diagnostic examination procedures. In the context of prevention, you are primarily active in health education and counseling. The degree program provides a strong foundation together with practical work experience and continuing training to take on management positions or research activities
As a physiotherapist, you will work in prevention, therapy and rehabilitation in every clinical field such as prevention, palliation, health counseling and education. You will work as a staff member or self-employed, alone or in interdisciplinary teams together with doctors and experts from other specialist disciplines in the following areas:
We work closely with the Vienna Healthcare Group, universities like the Medical University of Vienna, the Austrian Physio Association and other health care facilities. This guarantees you strong contacts for internships, employment or participation in research and development activities. You will complete the extensive internships at, among others, the hospitals of the Vienna Healthcare Group. You can find information about our cooperation activities and much more at Campusnetzwerk.
