Answers to the most important questions

You can apply to all universities abroad, but funding is only available for stays at partner universities, i.e. host universities that have a cooperation agreement with the University of Applied Sciences Campus Vienna. You can also do an internship in Erasmus+ countries without a partner university.

To see all current partner universities for your study program, go to Mobility Online, select "Exchange opportunities" and fill out the form under "Pre-selection". As soon as you select the "Programme" and "Study programs" fields, a list of all partner universities will appear under "Result".

Mobility abroad is generally possible in all countries where you can stay safely, i.e. in countries for which there is no travel warning higher than level 3. You can find the current classifications on the BMEIA website . Countries with a travel warning of 1-2 are possible for mobility. A stay in countries with a travel warning 3 is only possible with a final degree of liability exemption (student declaration). Mobility in countries with a travel warning 4 is not possible.

In order for you to receive funding, your study programs must have an agreement with your chosen host university, i.e. the host university must also be a partner university of the University of Applied Sciences Campus Vienna. In Erasmus+ countries, you can also do a funded internship without a partner university. You can find the current countries for Erasmus+ here.

Whether it is a study visit or an internship abroad, each mobility also has its own requirements that you must fulfil in order to receive funding. You can find these under "Your opportunities abroad" for the respective mobility abroad.

Depending on the study and mobility programme, there are different application deadlines during the academic year .
Applications for Erasmus+ funding must be submitted via Mobility Online.

For all other applications, please send your documents to international@hcw.ac.at by the respective application deadline.

We recommend that you speak the local language as well as possible. This will make it easier for you to communicate with others, help you find your way around and enrich your experience abroad. Our recommendation for study visits and internships is to speak the local language at least at level B1. However, a lack of language skills does not preclude participation. To prepare yourself linguistically for your mobility abroad, you can use free learning materials and take a placement test for the language of your choice on the OLS platform.

The International Office offers an internal language grant for all students who wish to improve their foreign language skills before and/or during their mobility abroad.

The requirements are:

  • Application only after your funding has been approved
  • the foreign language must not be English
  • Language course at an official language school
  • a maximum of two reimbursements of up to € 100 each

Yes, you can receive your Austrian study grant or a self-supporting scholarship in addition to Erasmus+ funding. However, please note the applicable income limits for additional income if you are working alongside your studies.

Before travelling abroad, you must obtain sufficient information about your insurance cover and take out the following if necessary:

  • Accident and liability insurance is provided by the ÖH (except in Canada, USA and Australia) if you are currently studying at the University of Applied Sciences Campus Vienna.
  • Health insurance abroad
  • Further insurances e.g. leisure insurance or travel insurance
