Our workshops

With over 2000 fields of study available to pupils after having completed secondary school, choosing a study program has become a major challenge. How can I get reliable information? How does studying at a university of applied sciences differ from studying at a university? How do I prepare for the admission exam? What are the first steps in studying and what do I need to bear in mind? The workshop offers the opportunity to deal with these and many other questions. Whether it's researching and choosing a course of study, differences between universities and universities of applied sciences, details about the admission procedure or the first steps in your studies and study organization - the focus is set by the pupils.

Is packaging just garbage? Why isn't it simply dispensed with? The problem is not as simple as that, because the result would be a massive loss of product. And that in times of resource scarcity and environmental pollution.

In this workshop, we explain that we actually need to optimize rather than reduce in order to lose as little food and produce as possible. After all, a lot of food spoils because the packaging is not right. We will learn about different packaging options and materials, find out what happens to them using life cycle analysis and that any packaging can be optimal for a particular application. Playful elements such as Kahoot and Memories round off the workshop.

Whether parcel tracking on the internet, a fitness tracker or smart household appliances: everyday objects are increasingly connected to the internet. This allows them to network with each other, communicate with each other and trigger events such as a food order. The Internet of Things (IoT) deals with the communication between smart devices.

We give the pupils a brief introduction to IT security and the Internet of Things. The focus will be on password security - the biggest vulnerability in the IoT - and we will crack passwords with the students to understand what are good or less good passwords. Secure/unsecure websites are also introduced. Where can I read passwords? Where can I see which sites are visited by other participants in the Open WLAN? The aim is to raise awareness of how to use the Internet of Things (IoT) safely and to support media education.

Many regions of the world are regularly shaken by earthquakes - and these are not uncommon in Austria either. Every year, three to four noticeable earthquakes are measured in the Vienna Basin, especially in the southernmost area. To ensure that houses, bridges and other structures can withstand these loads, such possible effects

on buildings must be taken into account at the planning and construction stage. But how does earthquake-proof construction work and what methods are there? A presentation with live commentary is followed by the construction of a test under the guidance of the pupils. To conclude, measurement results and constructive measures will be discussed.
