Demographic trends, digitalization, and rising quality standards demand highly qualified experts in the healthcare sector. The master’s program (continuing education) in Health Studies responds to these trends with a clearly structured, modular curriculum: As part of the master’s program (CE), you will choose a 60-ECTS specialization in accordance with the MTD Act (§43)—in sonography, functional diagnostics, histopathology, or cytology. Building on your specialized knowledge, you will expand your scientific, strategic, and interprofessional competencies up to the completion of your Master’s degree. The focus is on evidence-based practice, digitalization in healthcare, public health, as well as management and leadership skills.

    During the studies

At the start of the master’s program (continuing education) in Health Studies, you will deepen your expertise in functional diagnostics, histopathology, cytology, or sonography. Building on this foundation, you will expand your competencies beyond your specialization and develop a profile that combines practice, management, digitalization, and application-oriented research. This will qualify you for positions of responsibility in the healthcare sector.

Modern Infrastructure, Digital Formats, and Research

The blended learning concept, featuring scheduled on-campus blocks and flexible online phases, allows you to balance your career, studies, and personal life while seamlessly integrating the master’s program into your daily routine. The high proportion of digital teaching formats makes the program accessible to interested individuals across the entire German-speaking world while fostering professional exchange across regional and institutional boundaries. A modern infrastructure, along with digital and practice-oriented teaching, ensures sustainable learning and immediate application in your professional practice. Through active involvement in research and development projects, you can address current issues from a scientific perspective and establish valuable contacts for your future career.

    Strong Network

Hochschule Campus Wien offers a particularly strong environment for this: With a broad network in healthcare, research, and practice—including close collaborations with the Vienna Healthcare Group and key professional associations—it is firmly anchored in the healthcare sector. As the only university of applied sciences in Austria that trains students in all seven legally regulated medical, therapeutic, and diagnostic health professions as well as training midwives, it brings together comprehensive interprofessional expertise in one location. This opens up valuable opportunities for research projects and diverse perspectives for your professional development.

The master’s program (continuing education) in Health Studies covers the following core areas:

    • Evidence-based practice: During your studies, you will learn to critically analyze information, make scientifically sound decisions, and successfully implement evidence-based practices.
    • Digitalization and AI: You will acquire skills in the use of digital applications in everyday healthcare, develop data literacy, and learn to use new technologies safely and responsibly.
    • Public health and management: You will actively help shape quality and processes, take on project and change management tasks, and develop leadership skills for the healthcare sector.
    • Interprofessional collaboration: You will learn to work across teams, understand the roles of different professional groups, and improve communication and cooperation in the healthcare sector.
    • Research and knowledge transfer: You will be involved in application-oriented research projects and write practice-oriented master’s theses that promote the transfer of theory into practice.
    • Teaching methods and student-friendly design: You will work with blended, flipped, and problem-based learning formats, conduct portfolio-based assignments, and utilize scheduled on-campus sessions with asynchronous online phases to ensure maximum flexibility.
    • Transparency: The program recognizes the formal, non-formal, and informal skills you have acquired, allowing for individualized learning paths.
    • Internationalization: You use English-language academic literature, experience “Internationalization at Home,” and adhere to international standards such as ESCO

        Networking with graduates and organizations

We collaborate with the Vienna Healthcare Group, private laboratories, the Medical University of Vienna, professional associations (e.g., biomed austria), and other healthcare institutions. These networks provide you with opportunities for practical projects, research initiatives, and professional development—even within the context of your current job. As a part-time continuing education program, the master’s program (continuing education) in Health Studies focuses on application-oriented teaching and research settings rather than extensive, rigidly structured practical training phases. You’ll find many partnerships within the campus network—it’s worth having a look for jobs, projects, and events from our partners.
