The Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme of the Radiological Technology bachelor's program brought international students and lecturers together in Vienna for the third time.

What do you get when you combine seven countries, state-of-the-art imaging technologies and a pinch of Viennese hospitality? That's right: the ViMiTech 2025 - Vienna Medical Imaging & Technology Summer School. The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) started with a virtual preparation week and culminated in an intensive face-to-face phase at the University of Applied Sciences Campus Vienna.
There, students and lecturers from Greece, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, Egypt and Austria worked together in the modern skills labs on future topics in medical imaging. Once again this year, students from Pharos University Alexandria were able to take part in the week - made possible by the international funding pot of the University of Applied Sciences Campus Vienna.
The students segmented cardiac CT data in 3D, created surface scans and tested mixed reality applications for surgical planning. A particular highlight was the production of individual radiation masks - as used in radiotherapy for tumour treatment.
The renowned guest speakers Ricardo Ribeiro (HESAV Lausanne) and Jevgenijs Eugene Proskurins and Patrīcija Tamane from Riga Stradiņš University provided additional impetus.
The international group quickly grew together, because in addition to the intensive work, there was no shortage of shared experiences: not only team spirit, but also creativity and nerves of steel were put to the test in the escape room. And the week ended in a relaxed atmosphere at a cosy dinner in a traditional Viennese restaurant.
...are known to be three, but this much can already be revealed: ViMiTech will be back for a fourth round next year!
