Hochschule Campus Wien (HCW) offers degree programs in the Department of Applied Life Sciences with a focus on the natural sciences and engineering. Students have access to a first-class technical infrastructure, including specialized laboratories for microbiology, cell biology, microscopy, and cell culture, as well as for materials and packaging testing and bioengineering. This offering is complemented by the Scientific Brewhouse, a state-of-the-art pilot brewery that provides unique insights into biotechnological processes. This extensive equipment ensures a practical and application-oriented education that optimally prepares students for the challenges of modern applied life sciences. Research in the Department of Applied Life Sciences focuses on solving socially relevant challenges. The Department of Applied Life Sciences has established itself through practical educational content and application-oriented R&D projects in medical, molecular, and industrial biotechnology, as well as in packaging and resource management.

Research and development are a significant and growing part of the activities of the Department of Applied Life Sciences. Partnerships with renowned universities, research institutes and hospitals as well as project-related funding from FFG and MA23 prove the recognized research expertise of Hochschule Campus Wien. Master's students are constantly involved in R & D activities.
