COST (Cooperation in Science and Technology) promotes open research networks and Europe-wide exchange. The COST Action "COST Action: Enhancing children's oral language skills across Europe and beyond - a collaboration focusing on interventions for children with difficulties learning their first language (IS1406)" aims to further develop research, optimise the effectiveness of service facilities for children with language development disorders and establish a sustainable research network. The FH Campus Wien is initially participating in a transnational survey project on the linguistic and psychological foundations of interventions for language disorders as well as on the care situation and the social and cultural context in the intervention of language disorders with the Logopedics - Phoniatrics - Audiology study program. The foundations for further activities will be jointly developed as part of a training school on the topic of "Evidence Based Practice - Research Methods to Measure Intervention Efficacy" at the University of Seville.
Alongside Horizon 2020, COST (Cooperation in Science and Technology) is one of the most important pillars for promoting European research cooperation. Since 1971, COST Actions have promoted thematically open research networks and thus joint exchange. In particular, COST Actions help to improve the coordination of research activities and the communication of their results. Melanie Dornstauder and Peter Putz have been members of the Management Committee of COST Action IS 1406 on behalf of FH Campus Wien since October 2016. The research network comprises scientists from 34 European countries and six other international partner countries. The COST Action, which runs from April 2015 to April 2019, is coordinated by Prof James Law from Newcastle University, UK.
