PROGRAMMING - COST Action CA21122 PROmoting GeRiAtric Medicine in countries where it is still eMergING

It plays a crucial role in adapting healthcare systems to the needs of an aging population (European Commission 2020).

However, countries have different levels of development in the field of geriatrics. This is where COST Action CA 21122 PROGRAMMING (PROmoting GeRiAtric Medicine in countries where it is still eMergING) comes in. The aim is to develop training and continuing education programs for professionals in the field of geriatrics – especially for countries where this field is still in its infancy. The content should be adapted to the local context, the needs and resources of the target audience, and the existing capabilities of the participating institutions.

In the long term, the aim is to create a modular, interprofessional curriculum that teaches both technical and cross-disciplinary skills. The project thus makes an important contribution to improving care for older people, in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO 2024).
