ReMIND

Research period: 1.10.2018 to 30.9.2021

Robotic ePartner for Multitarget Innovative activation of people with Dementia

The ReMIND project is about increasing the physical and cognitive performance and strengthening the social interaction of people suffering from dementia. The effect of computer-assisted biography work, which was demonstrated in the Lebensnetz project, is used here, as well as the effect of physical and cognitive training, music and social networking using assisted robotics.

The planned system consists of several product-related components. These include the commercial app Keosity, which is a successor project to Lebensnetz, the socially assisting robot Zora, and an online platform for connecting older people. As part of the project, it is planned to statistically demonstrate the respective effects for the first time with large numbers of users - over 100 people in the test group - and over a period of one year in a multi-center clinical trial in Austria, Belgium, and Romania.

Research objectives

  • Development of a system by integrating existing product-related parts based on tablet apps and an assisting robot.
  • Evaluation of the overall system in several phases including two three-week trials to measure acceptance and improvement of the system and a final one-year clinical trial.
