With the Federal Office for Information Security’s IT-Grundschutz framework, Germany has established a successful approach that is currently being expanded into a comprehensive economic security framework for businesses. The Integrated Risk Management program provides research findings on this topic.
After all, IT is only one potential threat for industrial espionage and sabotage. Precautions are rarely taken for the classic attack targets of people, infrastructure and organisation. Basic economic protection closes this existing gap. The aim is to develop a comprehensive system of building blocks for protective measures, ranging from awareness-raising to prevention and response. In addition to a catalogue of building blocks and standards, it should be possible to set up an organisation accordingly on the basis of further assistance in order to identify specific threat situations and derive a security strategy from the general corporate strategy.
