Playing in Vienna – A Photo Research Project

In order to target measures for children's play in the city as precisely as possible, the play and exercise situation of children is analysed in more detail.

The research project focuses on the current activity spaces and forms of play of 4 to 10-year-olds on streets and squares in Vienna.

The project aims to research and document where and how children of this age currently play in public spaces in Vienna and what else they do in public spaces. The focus is on those spaces that are not specifically designated as playgrounds - i.e. Vienna's streets, squares and niches. The children's activities are recorded with photos. The research cooperation with PlanSinn Planung & Kommunikation GmbH and Sonja Gruber takes place in close collaboration with the "Fair Play Teams", an organisation of the City of Vienna that deals with the needs of people in public spaces.
