LGBTIQ+ in Vienna’s Homeless Assistance Programs: Experiences and Needs from the Perspectives of Professionals and Service Users

Many LGBTIQ+ people experience a particular lack of safe, non-discriminatory spaces due to intersectional experiences of discrimination. They are not only exposed to multiple forms of discrimination due to their homelessness, but also due to their sexual orientation or gender self-determination (cf. Abramovich 2016).

The aim of the study is to record the needs and experiences of and with LGBTIQ+ users of Vienna's homelessness services with a focus on outpatient and low-threshold assistance in order to identify gaps and challenges and to formulate recommendations for action on this basis.
