Dynamic process simulations are used to optimise the efficiency and performance of production processes. However, this plant-wide optimisation is lacking in the paper industry. For this reason, the paper company MONDI has launched the "Holistic Manufacturing Intelligence³ - HMI³" project with the IT specialist TIETO and FH Campus Wien.
Duration: 19.1.2013 to 20.2.2014.
The aim of the HMI³ project is to simulate the processes of a paper mill. Impending faults or production failures can thus be predicted and corrective action can be taken in good time. Control optimisation of sub-systems is networked with simulation and optimisation algorithms for production and energy planning for the entire mill. Real-time interaction supports employees in finding the cause in the event of a fault. What is particularly new is the focus of the Austrian company MONDI on the technical and economic high-tech optimisation and integration of production systems. State-of-the-art production planning algorithms as well as process simulation and process control techniques are used.
