100 years of the educational journal UNSERE KINDER

Project Duration: 1 September 2020 to 28 February 2022

UNSERE KINDER is the oldest surviving early childhood education and care professional journal from an Austrian publishing house. The periodical is currently published by Caritas für Kinder und Jugendliche (Caritas for Children and Young People) and, since its foundation around 100 years ago, has been aimed at educators in practice in the sense of a vivid theory-practice transfer. The research project analyses the historical development of the magazine from 1923/24 to the present day with a view to event-related and socio-political processes as well as pedagogical topics and continuities in the 20th and 21st centuries. The focus of the research interest is on both the contents of the issues and influential people such as editors and authors, in order to trace the eventful history of the magazine in detail and to record it for the first time.
