The “Strengthening Conflict Management and Transformation Studies in Africa (CONMAT)” project aims to promote international academic cooperation between Africa (Ghana and Rwanda) and Europe (Austria and Spain). The project partners are the Ghanaian universities Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies and the University of Ghana Business School, as well as the Rwandan universities Protestant University of Rwanda and the University of Rwanda. The European project partner is the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.
As part of the project, the capacities of the African partner universities in Ghana and Rwanda will be strengthened in the fields of conflict management and transformation studies.
CONMAT provides university staff and students with detailed knowledge and tools in the field of conflict management and transformation and emphasizes critical reflection on the content.
As concrete measures, Hochschule Campus Wien proposes the further development of existing curricula and the internationalization of teaching materials on the subject of conflict studies. These materials are to be integrated into the teaching programs of African universities.
In addition, joint digital learning and multimedia courses will be conducted with a focus on participatory video techniques. The results will be presented to the general public at two final conferences in the capitals of the partner countries, Accra and Kigali. Upon completion of the project, a handbook for teachers will be available, which will deal intensively with the cross-cultural, intercultural and gender-specific perspectives of the project.
