Intermodal networks - International analysis of selected transport infrastructure organisations

ASFINAG is joining forces with the public transport sector to contribute to a needs-based, safe and intermodal network. Individual countries around the world have chosen different strategies for organising their transport infrastructures.

The EVOLUTION research project evaluates these different organisational structures and provides best practice examples of intermodal cooperation as well as current organisational developments. A working group of the Technical Committee "Performance of Transport Administrations" of the World Road Association (PIARC) is handling the project. PIARC, to which 37 countries and transport infrastructure organisations worldwide belong, promotes safe, environmentally friendly and sustainable mobility. This project is financed by ASFINAG. The Managing Director of ASFINAG BMG, Alexander Walcher, who heads the "Evolution of Structures & Missions of Road or Transport Administrations" working group in PIARC, is supporting the project with the aim of learning from international best practice findings.
