Project duration: 1.3.2023 - 31.12.2026

Possibilities for effective and efficient supervision of Bachelor's theses in Health Care and Nursing study programs and the use of Bachelor's theses from the perspective of nursing practice

The increasing number of students poses a challenge for Bachelor's supervisors. The BABE research project addresses the questions of which types of academic work and which forms of supervisor enable effective and efficient supervision of Bachelor's theses. Scientific methods that are frequently used in Bachelor's theses, such as literature reviews, empirical work or case analyses, are compared with each other. The efficiency and effectiveness of different forms of supervision, such as group supervision, editing, individual supervision or peer groups, are also assessed.

These questions are answered by means of literature reviews and an empirical mix of qualitative and quantitative surveys and data analyses.

Research objectives

  • The aim of this research project is to identify different types and forms of supervision of Bachelor's theses that enable lecturers to provide effective and at the same time efficient supervision. The methods to be identified focus on the supervisor of Bachelor's theses as part of a bologna-compliant healthcare and nursing degree programme. The aim is to ensure that students can acquire the academic skills required for the nursing profession.
