Everyday processes such as electronic business and government transactions, cashless payments and the omnipresence of electronic infrastructure through smartphones and cloud computing in public and private areas of life require an increased level of data protection and sensitisation to these issues. With the endowed Professorship for Network Security, the City of Vienna has emphasised this important topic in teaching and research at FH Campus Wien.
The goal of the endowed professorship for network security, which is currently held by Manuel Koschuch, is to analyse the issues surrounding the protection of existing networks at the Competence Center for IT Security in particular, but also to provide an outlook on future technologies and their data protection requirements. A strong focus is placed on the close networking of research with teaching in the Information Technologies and Telecommunications (Bachelor) and IT Security (Master) study programs, giving students the opportunity to benefit directly from the research activities at FH Campus Wien in lectures, but also to actively participate in these topics through independent Bachelor and Master theses.
