Repartum: Giving Refurbished Spare Parts a Second Life

Supported by the Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Career Center (EICC) at Hochschule Campus Wien, Repartum is making repair more accessible across Europe. The start-up connects repair businesses with professionally refurbished spare parts, helping to extend product lifecycles and advance the circular economy.

Drei Menschen vor einer großen, hellen Leinwand

For Jessica Draper, alumna of the Master's degree programme Software Design and Engineering at Hochschule Campus Wien, the future of repair lies in reuse. Together with her co-founders Amrit Thind and Anant Thind, she launched Repartum, a start-up developing a digital platform that makes refurbished spare parts easier to find and use.

“We want professionally refurbished spare parts to become the default choice for repair technicians across Europe,” says Draper. “By creating the right digital infrastructure, we can make repairs more affordable while extending the lifespan of valuable products.”

An Idea Born from Industry Experience

The idea for Repartum grew out of first-hand experience in the household appliance repair industry. Co-founder Amrit Thind spent several years working as a technician and repeatedly encountered the same problem: appliances that could still be repaired were often discarded because spare parts were unavailable or nearly as expensive as a new machine.

“Across Europe, millions of reusable components already exist inside discarded appliances, but they are difficult to find, largely invisible and disconnected from the technicians who need them,” Amrit explains. This disconnect inspired the founding team to create Repartum and build a digital infrastructure that connects reusable spare parts with repair professionals.

Unlocking a Hidden Spare Parts Market

The start-up addresses a critical challenge at the intersection of repair affordability, spare-part availability and electronic waste. Today, the cost of a replacement component often determines whether an appliance is repaired or replaced. Yet warehouses across Europe already contain vast numbers of functional refurbished parts. Because this inventory is fragmented and difficult to access, repair shops spend valuable time searching disconnected marketplaces, while suppliers lack efficient tools to identify, document and market their stock.

Repartum aims to bridge this gap through a trusted network of repair businesses, refurbishers, dismantlers and social enterprises. Standardized condition reporting, transparent warranty handling and quality monitoring help ensure reliability for repair professionals.

Using AI to Support Circularity

To tackle the complexity of managing thousands of spare parts, the team is also leveraging artificial intelligence. Suppliers can use a mobile scanning application that automatically identifies components, extracts part numbers from photos and suggests market-based pricing. The platform also processes supplier data and maps compatible parts across different manufacturers, making it easier for technicians to find suitable replacements.

By unlocking this hidden inventory, Repartum aims to extend appliance lifespans, reduce electronic waste and contribute to a more circular economy.

From Award-Winning Idea to Growing Start-up

The young start-up has already achieved important milestones. Earlier this year, Repartum won the Audience Award at ClimateLaunchpad Austria. More recently, the team was selected from more than 120 applicants for the prestigious aws First Incubator programme, securing €51,600 in grant funding as well as professional coaching. Alongside the support provided through the aws First Incubator, Repartum is receiving ongoing support from the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center (EICC) at Hochschule Campus Wien.
